Are you in a toxic love affair with food?

Georgie Beames
Registered Psychologist

You know, that one thing you can’t stop thinking about as much as you might try to… planning, calculating, obsessing, devouring…

That’s why I call it a toxic love affair. If you’re like 99.9% of the women I work with, it consumes you as much as you consume it.

And trust me when I say I get it! For many years, I was an emotional over-eater. I went through times when I would obsess over every diet available. At other times I compulsively exercised. Evenings were the worst, laden with sugar cravings and comfort eating. In short, I felt like my life sucked (and it kind of did!). I may as well have been wearing blinkers, I was blind to everything else around me.

I never felt like I was good enough. And I couldn’t bear having my photo taken. I’d felt like a failure and undeserving of happiness. A large part of my own journey has been spent realigning my beliefs and getting out of my own way, I love my life today.

When I stopped spending all my time googling paleo recipes, I opened up significant brain space to think about things that actually mattered.

That’s exactly why I chose to specialise in this field. I understand exactly how devastating it feels when we’re trapped and aching to find freedom and happiness.

I’m a psychologist and creator of the Online Freedom Program, a program that helps women around the world to break free from this prison once and for all. The work we do together is incredibly powerful as it begins to reframe your subconscious ways of thinking about things. Changes that happen at a surface level aren’t sustainable. This journey takes you deeper so you can find the freedom to change your relationship with food and your body and finally live your life with more inner peace, confidence and acceptance.

I have seen so many women struggling and it’s because they’re looking in the wrong places for the answers. Through my programs, I work with women around the world to build up their internal resources so they can trust themselves again.

When we have a new relationship with ourselves, we enjoy increased confidence and interact with the world in a much more positive way. I’m passionate about sharing this experience with as many women as possible.

Life is so much sweeter without all that worry, anxiety, obsession & criticism!

Today, I’m completely free to enjoy my life with my beautiful family. When we’re not working, we love spending quality family time together, going for a bike ride, spending days at park and heading out for dinner or the movies. I’ll take my son to the pool and strut my stuff in my bathers without a care in the world! This never happened before.
